It Gets Better

There have been several teen suicides in the last week, all of which have been triggered by bullying based on sexual orientation. Fortunately, there has been a waterfall of public outreach fronted by Savage Love‘s Dan Savage, involving celebrity and non-celebrity videos telling those struggling to live another day that “it gets better“.  And it does.

Though I am not gay myself, I have grown up with a gay best friend who also struggled with his identity before he came out, but he overcame it and I’ve never seen anyone happier than he is. It’s tragic that a potential happy life was obliterated by the relentless abuse of others.

No one deserves the disrespect and disgusting ignorance experienced through bullying, regardless of what motive the aggressor has.

I don’t want to make my own video, because I think those that exist speak loudly and strongly but I did make a short news piece for Humber TV that I thought I would link you to.

Juice Boxes Vs. The World

Whenever there’s reason to think that North America is moving towards a more progressive stance on social issues, people like Alex Jones open their mouths and ruin it for everyone.

It’s amusing until you realise he’s not joking and people legitimately believe that the war between good and evil is upon us – The gay man and his army of juice boxes will lead us straight to hell!!!!

These are the people that keep the “Don’t ask don’t tell” policy from being revoked.
